- At the top of the notebook, write the date and that day’s weather in one line, for example: June 9, cloudy.
- Write one “most memorable scene from today” in two or three sentences. It does not matter whether it was good or annoying.
- Write honestly, in one word, how you felt at that moment: proud, exhausted, relieved.
- Leave a short note to your tomorrow self. It can be a promise or a request.
- Once you have written it, do not reread it. Close the notebook right away. The key is not to censor yourself.

Habits usually settle in around 21 days. The most common failure is giving up because you missed one day and think, “I ruined it.” If you miss a day, just leave it blank and continue the next day.

Note: If absolutely nothing happened that day, write only “the tastiest thing I ate today.” All that matters is not breaking the chain of days when you picked up a pen, even for one line.
