BIFF opens October 6 after Nampo-dong eve event: schedule points viewers should check
The 31st Busan International Film Festival is building momentum before its October 6 opening with an eve event at BIFF Square in Nampo-dong. Yonhap reported that Busan Jung-gu will hold an event on a special stage at BIFF Square on the afternoon of October 5 to wish the festival success. The official BIFF website lists this year’s festival dates as October 6–15, 2026 and provides ticketing and program information. For viewers, it is more useful to check ticketing, outdoor events, Community BIFF and travel routes together than to follow only the opening-ceremony news.

What matters more than the opening ceremony
Large film festivals draw attention to red carpets and opening ceremonies, but the real audience experience depends on much more specific preparation. Popular screenings can sell out quickly, and outdoor stage greetings or open talks are affected by weather and on-site movement. When venues are spread across Nampo-dong, the Busan Cinema Center and Jung-gu, travel time becomes part of the viewing plan. Because BIFF combines screenings with Community BIFF and outdoor events, it is better to divide core films and on-site programs instead of overfilling one day.
